Jim Heisman

Jim Heisman has spent more than thirty-five years working where law, technology, and regulation meet.

Jim spent 20+ years in Big Law advising high-tech companies operating in complex and highly regulated environments coupled with his IP litigation practice which focused on Pharma and Electronics.

In 2008, while continuing to build his legal practice, Jim co‑founded Outer Edge Technology. Jim wanted to move beyond advising and gain direct operating experience inside a technology company serving regulated industries. By taking on the role of General Counsel and supporting business development at Outer Edge Technology, he gained firsthand insight into what it takes to build systems that do more than look compliant on paper.

Since then, Jim has worked closely with life sciences, pharmaceutical, and medical device organizations navigating GxP requirements, data privacy obligations, and complex technology contracts. Jim understands how regulatory expectations translate into real infrastructure decisions, and where breakdowns typically occur when legal, IT, and operations are not aligned.

Jim’s unique value comes from this dual perspective. He has seen audits succeed and fail. He has worked through audits, validated IT environments, and the consequences of compliance gaps that surface too late. That experience shapes a practical, execution‑focused approach to legal strategy.
